I am a Licensed Psychologist, practicing in Los Angeles for the past 12 years. Prior to establishing my practice in Los Angeles I was practicing in New York City since 1997. My initial focus had been with patients and family members grappling with addiction, along with other co-existing mental illnesses. And while treating patient’s with addiction has remained a passion, I have expanded my training and expertise to include family therapy, couples therapy (specifically Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Psychodynamic Group Therapy.
Group Therapy, EMDR, and EFT are very specific treatment approaches that have equipped me to deal effectively with a myriad of issues so many of us face daily, along with far more severe conditions such as Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD), Panic Disorder, grief, and couples in serious distress, as a few examples. It has been a priority to attain further education and training that will equip me to best support my patients. Beyond these specific therapy models, I also believe that building a strong and trusting relationship with my patients is the most important and effective tool I have to offer.
I completed my undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Canada, earning my Bachelors at the University of Waterloo and my Master’s degree at the University of Toronto’s OISE. I received my PhD at Capella University with a specialization in Family Therapy and focus on addiction. Following my PhD, I had a very fortunate opportunity to receive an additional year long intensive training in Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) through the University of Miami’s Family Studies Program. BSFT is a family intervention specifically designed to assist families dealing with addiction. While BSFT has been empirically proven to be effective with families specifically coping with addiction, I have seen tremendous success with families facing an array of challenges, as a result of implementing this approach.
I’m passionate about learning, listening, and bringing awareness, relief, and balance to the lives of my patients. I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, and if you or someone you love is going through a difficult time with addiction, depression, anxiety, or another mental health issue, please feel free to contact me to setup a consultation.
